A suburb of Winston-Salem, Clemmons is a community in Forsyth County, North Carolina, in the United States. According to the 2020 census, 21,177 people were living there.

The history of Clemmons dates back to Peter Clemmons’ original settlement of the Village in 1802. It was formerly known as Clemmonsville and swiftly developed into an agricultural and industrial hub.

Regular stagecoach traffic passed through Clemmons, and electricity production at the Idols Dam Power Station helped the community enter the industrial period. Edwin Theodore Clemmons, the grandson of Peter Clemmons, the founder of Clemmons, envisioned the first Clemmons Moravian Church.

In his will, Edwin requested that the Moravians construct a congregation and boarding school in Clemmons to help the Moravian church and his hometown. He gave them the go-ahead to build a parsonage, a school, and a church. They were also supposed to buy land that would be broken up into building lots with an acre each and sold to Moravian families for $1 each.

The Moravian School then offered free enrollment to the children of these families. A sizable building project was finished in March 1984. The building had five classrooms, a nursery, an office, a storage room, and a new fellowship hall with space for 350 people.

It also included modern kitchen facilities. Clemmons Moravian Child Care is housed in the same building. The first church structure was finally dismantled in 2010 after reaching the end of its useful life.
